Quantum Biofeedback at Resonant Ranch Retreats

For years, people have asked me where they can try quantum biofeedback. Today my answer is simple: on the ranch. In-person therapies in my practice now happen within Resonant Ranch Retreats, and quantum biofeedback is available as an add-on session within any retreat tier. This is why I chose to offer it here, and what you can expect.
Why the setting matters
Your nervous system is always asking one question before any other: am I safe? It answers that question through a process called neuroception, a constant, mostly unconscious scan of sound, light, movement, and the pace of everything around you.
In a city, the answer is often "not quite." Traffic noise, artificial light at night, and constant notifications keep the sympathetic branch of the nervous system slightly engaged all day. Over time, that background arousal becomes the baseline. Many people do not notice it until it lifts.
On 550 acres in the Ozarks, the inputs change. The loudest sounds are wind, birds, and water. Evenings are dark enough for the Milky Way. Research on time in natural settings links it with lower self-reported stress and with shifts in heart rate and heart rate variability toward parasympathetic activity, though studies vary in size and design. I see the land as part of the session, not just the backdrop for it.

Light, darkness, and the clock inside your brain
There is a second reason the land matters. Deep in the hypothalamus, the suprachiasmatic nucleus keeps time for every organ in your body, and its main input is light reaching specialized cells in the retina. Bright morning light tells that clock the day has begun. Darkness at night allows the pineal gland to release melatonin, which opens the door to deep, consolidated sleep.
Most of us live inverted: dim rooms all day and bright screens late at night. Even modest light at night can suppress melatonin. On the ranch, the rhythm corrects itself almost without effort. You wake to sunrise over the valley, spend the day outdoors, and watch the light fade over the ridges with no streetlights to interrupt it.
A nervous system that sleeps well recovers better from everything else you ask of it. That is why I place biofeedback inside a full day on the land rather than squeezing it between errands. The session is one input. The light, the quiet, and the sleep that follows are the rest of the conversation.
What the session is
Quantum biofeedback is a form of electrodermal biofeedback. Soft straps at your wrists, ankles, and forehead carry a current far too small to feel. The device measures changes in skin conductance, which rise and fall with sympathetic nervous system activity, and guides relaxation, breathing, and sound programs around your responses.
I am clear with every guest about what it is and is not. Biofeedback as a field has good evidence for reducing stress and anxiety, especially heart rate variability biofeedback. Research on quantum style devices specifically is limited. The session is not a diagnostic test, it does not identify disease, and it does not replace medical care or any medication you take. Many guests describe the experience in energetic terms, as a sense of coherence or resonance, and I honor that as a perspective rather than a measured result.

What a session on the ranch feels like
You arrive after a slow morning. Perhaps you have walked the meadow, done Qi Gong on the bluff, or simply sat with coffee and the view. You recline fully clothed, the straps go on, and the room settles into low light and quiet sound.
Most of the next hour is stillness: slow breathing, soft tones, and brief moments of feedback. By the end, most people feel heavy and settled, the way you feel at the edge of sleep. Some feel nothing dramatic, and that is normal too. Afterward we talk about what you noticed, and I suggest a quiet hour before anything else on the schedule.
How it pairs with sound and lymphatic work
I design each retreat as a sequence, because the order of inputs shapes how the nervous system responds.
Sound first. A live sound bowl meditation or a guided session with handpan and tongue drum uses slow rhythm and long resonant tones. Slow, steady sound pairs well with slow breathing, and slow breathing near six breaths a minute is the same pattern used in heart rate variability biofeedback to strengthen vagal tone.
Biofeedback next. Once breathing has slowed, the biofeedback session continues that downshift in a structured way.
Lymphatic work after. The lymphatic system has no central pump. It moves with breathing, muscle contraction, and gentle manual technique. A lymphatic circuit later in the day uses those drivers deliberately, and many guests find it easier to receive bodywork once the nervous system has already shifted toward rest.
Together, these sessions form a gentle arc: from alert, to calm, to restored circulation, to deep sleep in the quiet of the Ozark night.

Who it is for
The add-on suits adults who feel stuck in a stress response, who enjoy seeing their own physiology in real time, or who are already working on root causes and want a restorative experience alongside that care. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted electrical device, or you are pregnant, please check with your physician before booking it.
If you want answers about what is driving your symptoms, the session is not where we find them. That is the work of a comprehensive functional neurological exam, laboratory testing, and imaging when indicated, which I offer through telehealth and in clinic.
Choosing your retreat
Resonant Ranch Retreats come in three tiers, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each shaped around your nervous system and your pace. Quantum biofeedback can be added to any of them. Because every retreat is tailored, we choose the right tier and the right sessions together on a free Discovery Call.
Explore the tiers and current dates on the Resonant Ranch Retreats page.
